What is Membean? What are the Requirements?
What is Membean? (click here to find out more)
Membean is a unique, online vocabulary learning tool that helps students learn and remember words. In addition it enables each teacher to monitor and comprehend an individual student's learning.
Requirements:
Students are expected to complete a minimum of 75 minutes over four days every two weeks. These sessions are to be completed on different days to ensure proper retention of newly learned vocabulary words. If a student does not meet these requirements, 30 points will be deducted from his/her overall Membean quiz grade.
A good learning session is one that does not have dubious minutes. Minutes that Membean marks as dubious will be deducted from students overall time-studied. Dubious minutes can be acquired in three different ways, but all are each marked as "dubious" in a teacher report because they do not denote a quality learning session. These could be due to:
1. Sandbagging: This is when the Activity tab lights up. This means that the student is stopping during training and doing other things
2. Poor Accuracy: This is when the Accuracy tab light ups and the accuracy is at or less than guessing threshold. This means that the student is randomly clicking on things. Students sometimes just go "click, click, click" without processing anything. This is a bad learning session.
3. Cheating: This is when students employ programs (like an APP or extension), or other means, to find the answer
These each look distinctly different in a report, and therefore one cannot be mistaken for another. The good news is that they are all easily avoidable if students give their full attention to their learning sessions. To help gauge this, students should each reflect on their Activity Log after each session they complete.
